My name is Lesley Penney. I’m a struggling artist, but not in the monetary sense (though I’m not earning anything either). When I was in animation school many years ago, I had a mental break down, leading to some pretty heavy baggage surrounding my art. I tried animation school again 3 years later, and had another mental breakdown. Clearly, I couldn’t handle mental illness and the stresses of animation school together, despite my love for animating.
Years later, I started a webcomic with my husband. Things were okay, until I got to a specific scene that proved to be the death knell. Two years after quitting drawing, I am trying to get back into it.
Aside from art, I have two cats (one grey, one calico), a bicycle (teal), a MINI Cooper (electric blue), and a very supportive husband (multicoloured). I live in a small apartment in California, having moved here from Canada. I am still occasionally baffled by cultural differences, and I still spell words the Canadian way, like colour and neighbour.
